Barack can't turn the page on the Ken Starr Report.

Sen. Obama promised a new kind of politics. One that would be free of the politics of the past that didn't focus on personal destruction. He's spoken a lot on turning the page on the 90s but like many Republicans he has had some trouble.

302,874 people on YouTube have been treated to the sight of Michelle Obama telling people on the South Side of Chicago that Hillary Clinton can't run the White house because she can't run her house.

Michelle's cheap shot at Hillary Clinton

That's 302,874 people who have been exposed to the "new politics" that sounds just like the old politics. 302,874 people who saw Michelle claiming to be a role model in one breath and resorting to the tackiest attack imaginable on another woman, in the next breath.

This wasn't just a fluke or a Michelle's poor choice of words getting the better of her. As Marc Ambinder pointed out previously the Obama camp suffers from the same fixation on the sex lives of the Clintons as your average Republican:

"His campaign staffers, too, have become frustrated by the focus of the media's attention, specifically that the press has not covered Clinton in the way they expected it would. During an interview this summer, Obama's friend Valerie Jarrett said to me, unbidden, "He is a man who is devoted to his wife. There aren't going to be any skeletons in his closet in terms of his personal life at all. Period." And at a campaign event in Iowa, one of Obama's aides plopped down next to me and spoke even more bluntly. He wanted to know when reporters would begin to look into Bill Clinton's postpresidential sex life"
Obama On Negative Campaigning

That was posted on December 15th 2007. A few days later on Christmas Day Sen. Obama's congregation would be treated to some pretty disgusting display courtesy of their pastor, Reverend Wright. While humping the podium the good Reverend said that Bill Clinton did them (the black community) just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was, and I quote, "riding dirty."

Maybe the Obama campaign couldn't get the press to write about the "scandals" of the 90s or about the post-presidential sex life of the Clintons so they turned to their pastor.

On March 11th Maxim Thorne, a member of Obama's LGBT leadership council, e-mailed the following to a couple of list servers.

"At 3am, Hillary said she and Bill were in bed and she knows of all the calls a President gets at different times of the day and night. Really? So much involvement - so much togetherness. Where was she when Monica was having sex with Bill? 35 years of experience? When he was intimidating Katherine Wiley and Paula Jones? Where was the judgment on the cattle futures and white water. Do we forget Mark and Denise Rich? This was an impeached President who lost his license to practice law. He committed perjury. They settled with Paula Jones for the full amount of her lawsuit. I haven't forgotten and none of us should."
Obama backer revives Clinton sex scandals

Maxim Thorne resigned after he took one for the team. Or maybe he thought he'd be able to keep his positions since he was only echoing what the wife and pastor of the boss were saying.

Today yet another Obama aid/surrogate/supporter beat us over the head with the Ken Starr report just in case we hadn't been paying attention to the many previous comments that have come out of the campaign.

"B. [Bill] Clinton should never be forgiven. Period. This is a stain on his legacy, much worse, much deeper, than the one on Monica's blue dress."
Obama supporter references Bill Clinton and 'blue dress'

Does this make an "insidious pattern" that needs to be addressed?  Will Sen. Obama come back from his vacation and give a speech on the state of marriage in America and tell us he can't disown Michelle because she's "like family" to him?

The Obama campaign can't seem to turn the page on the Ken Starr Report because the pages are all stuck together. I can picture the sleeping quarters of the Obama's in the White House. The red phone on one night stand the sticky copy of the Ken Starr Report on the other.
